Arise + Shine | Isaiah 60:1

A sunrise-glow.

There’s a reason Isaiah 60:1 feels like a holy invitation: “Arise, shine; for your light has come! And the glory of the LORD is risen upon you.” (NKJV

This isn’t a suggestion.

It’s a calling, a declaration spoken over you by the God who knows exactly who He created you to be.

There are seasons when rising feels natural… and seasons when rising feels impossible. But here’s the miracle: God never asks us to shine from a light we don’t have. He calls us to shine because His light has already come. His glory has already risen. The work is already in motion. Sometimes, though, we don’t see the rising until years later.

I think about how the Lord recently brought something full-circle for me in a way only He can. As a kid, I spent summers dancing at church, attending camps, and being gently shepherded by an aunt who poured into me long before either of us knew what that investment would become. I didn’t realize then that God was planting seeds, seeds of worship, creativity, ministry, movement, and light.

Fast forward to this year: standing on a stage, singing a solo, choreographing with a young dancer, serving in ministry, and worshiping with a growing, Christ-centered community

It hit me how those childhood seeds had finally bloomed. How God’s light had risen over my life again in a way I didn’t expect. How He had led me into a place where I wasn’t just receiving, but giving, pouring into others the way someone once poured into me.

That’s what the light of God does. It doesn’t just illuminate our surroundings, it awakens what He placed within us long before we could understand its purpose.

Here’s today’s truth nugget: The light God placed in you years ago is still rising.

He hasn’t asked you to shine from emptiness, He’s calling you to shine from His work in you. Nothing He planted in you is wasted.

Isaiah 60:1 is more than a verse. It’s a reminder that God’s glory doesn’t just rise around you, it rises over you, in you, and even through the stories that felt dormant for seasons. If you look back long enough, you’ll notice His fingerprints on every step… even the ones you thought led nowhere.

Today, may you feel the courage to stand up in the light you’ve already been given.

May you see the beauty of what God has carried full-circle.

And may you trust that the same God who planted seeds in your childhood is still cultivating their bloom today.

Prayer

Lord, thank You for the light You have already placed within me. Thank You for every season where You gently led me, even when I didn’t recognize Your hand. Help me rise today, not in my own strength, but in Your glory. Let Your light awaken what You planted in me long ago, and let my life shine in a way that points back to You. Amen.

Devotional reminder from Isaiah 60:1 about rising in God’s light and embracing the calling He placed within you.
