Read
Then comes the next chapter:
Abraham sends his servant to find a wife for Isaac. At first glance, it looks risky and uncertain. But heaven meets obedience. The servant prays, watches, discerns God’s leading, and meets Rebekah at the well, a moment orchestrated with perfect timing.
This portion is full of movement:
- Sarah’s life closes.
- Isaac’s next season begins.
- Abraham’s legacy continues forward.
- God’s promises keep unfolding.
Even when doors close, His purposes keep moving. His story doesn’t stop because a chapter ends.
Where this touches your life
Maybe you’re in a season where something familiar has ended.
Maybe a relationship shifted, a job changed, a dream feels paused, or you’re waiting for clarity.
This portion invites you to remember:
If God wrote the first chapter, He’s already prepared the next.
Your obedience today, even when it feels small, can set the stage for blessings you can’t yet see.
Just like Abraham’s servant at the well, sometimes all God asks is that we step forward, pray, watch, and trust the path He lights ahead.
The New Testament echoes this
- God is not the God of the dead, but of the living (Matthew 22:32).
- Faith is stepping without seeing the whole picture (Hebrews 11).
- God finishes what He starts (Philippians 1:6).
Truth to Hold Onto This Week
- A closed chapter does not mean a closed promise.
- God writes continuity even when life feels fragmented.
- Obedience today shapes blessings tomorrow.
- Faith is often found in transitions.
- God prepares future provision long before we see it.
Prayer
Father, thank You for being present in my transitions. Help me trust You with what has ended and with what is beginning. Give me the courage to walk forward, the peace to wait patiently, and the faith to believe that Your promises are unfolding in ways I cannot yet see. Amen.
