The Heart of the Scripture Reading
This week’s Scripture opens with Rebekah carrying a deep sense of inner turmoil. Something inside her feels conflicted and heavy, so she goes straight to the Lord and asks: “If all is well, why am I like this?” (Genesis 25:22).
The Lord reveals that two nations are forming within her, two lives, two futures, two stories that will shape generations long after her. This passage teaches us something powerful: God often forms futures in hidden places long before we understand them. Rebekah’s discomfort wasn’t a sign of danger, it was a sign of destiny.
Later, in Malachi 1, God speaks again about His faithfulness through generations and the certainty of His purpose. Even when the circumstances feel messy, He remains steady and intentional.
Where This Touches Your Life
Some weeks feel unsettled.
Some seasons feel confusing.
Some days leave you wondering why things feel heavy or unclear.
You’re not alone in that.
The tension you’re feeling may not be a setback, it may be spiritual formation. Sometimes what feels unsettling is God preparing you. What feels uncomfortable is God stretching you. What feels hidden is God growing you. What feels quiet is God shaping something deeper. When you cannot see the full plan, you can trust that God does.
The New Testament Echoes
This Scripture reinforces this theme across generations: God is the God of the living (Matthew 22:32). Faith acts even without seeing the whole picture (Hebrews 11). God completes the work He starts (Philippians 1:6).
Even when your story is unfolding in ways you don’t yet understand, God’s purpose is steady.
Truths to Hold Onto This Week
- Inner tension can be a sign of spiritual growth.
- God forms futures before we can see them.
- Hidden seasons often shape us the most.
- Waiting prepares us for clarity.
- God’s purpose is steady, even when life feels uncertain.
Prayer
Father, thank You for working in the unseen parts of my life. When I feel unsettled or uncertain, remind me that You are shaping my future with intention and care. Give me peace in the tension, patience in the waiting, and trust in Your timing. Steady my heart as I walk with You. Amen.
