“‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’” Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)
This verse is one of those Scriptures we’ve all heard before, but sometimes we stop short of the depth behind it. It’s more than a promise of good things, it’s a reminder that God’s plan for your life is intentional.
Jeremiah 29:11 was first spoken to people who were waiting, people in exile, wondering what came next. God’s response wasn’t instant relief or easy answers. It was reassurance: “I already know what I’m doing.”
When I read this, I always hear Kent Henry’s song “For I Know the Plans.” I grew up hearing his voice in worship, and this song in particular carries a fatherly peace, like the Lord Himself reminding us, “I’ve got plans for you, Church.”
That line echoes something personal for me:
“Listen in the Spirit… hear your Daddy’s voice. He’s saying, ‘For I know the plans I have for you.’”
It’s not just a lyric, it’s truth. He’s got plans. Good ones. Hopeful ones. Ones that outlast confusion and disappointment.
Maybe today isn’t unfolding the way you thought it would. Maybe it feels like everything’s been put on pause. But the pause isn’t punishment, it’s positioning. God’s not behind on your story; He’s preparing you for the part that’s still to come.

Prayer
Lord, thank You for knowing what I can’t see. When my plans change, help me remember that Yours never fail. Teach me to trust Your timing, even when I don’t understand the process. I know Your plans are good, and I choose to rest in that truth today. In Jesus’ name, amen.
