One of the most beautiful truths about following Jesus is this: God never asks us to give what He hasn’t already given first. In 1 Peter 4:10 we read, “As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.” Grace isn’t meant to be held. It’s meant to be handed out.
The word “manifold” in this verse means “multicolored, many-sided, richly varied.” In other words, God’s grace doesn’t look the same in every person, and that’s the beauty of it. He pours unique gifts into each of us so we can pour them back out into the people around us. Gratitude grows when we realize every ability, talent, insight, and strength is made to bless someone else.
Sometimes we think stewardship is only about money, but biblical stewardship is about receiving God’s grace with open hands, and keeping them open.
Your encouragement is a gift.
Your ability to listen is a gift.
Your creativity is a gift.
Your compassion is a gift.
Your prayer life is a gift.
Your presence is a gift. (no pun intended!)
When you offer these gifts to the people around you, you become a living reflection of God’s generosity. Romans 12:6 echoes this, reminding us that we each have gifts “differing according to the grace that is given to us.” Grace fuels the gift. Gratitude directs it outward.
Here’s today’s truth nugget: Grace doesn’t just transform us, it equips us.
We aren’t called to hoard the goodness God’s given us. We’re called to steward it. Share it. Multiply it. Allow it to flow through us into the lives of others. Stewardship is gratitude in motion.
Think of someone in your life who has stewarded God’s grace well, a teacher who invested in you, a friend who prayed you through the valley, a mentor who didn’t give up on you. Their faithfulness is living proof that grace grows when it is shared.
Today, ask the Lord:
“Whose life do You want to touch through the grace You’ve given me?”
And then… give it freely.
Prayer
Lord, thank You for the grace You’ve poured into my life. Help me steward it well, not for my own glory, but for Yours. Show me who needs the gift You’ve placed within me today. Amen.
