Psalm 105 opens with a command that feels like three-part harmonies of gratitude: “Oh, give thanks to the LORD! Call upon His name; make known His deeds among the peoples!”
Thank Him.
Call on Him.
Tell others about Him.
This isn’t just a list, it’s a cycle. Gratitude deepens relationship, relationship fuels testimony, and testimony brings us back to gratitude.
When we thank the Lord, we’re choosing to remember what He’s done. We’re shifting our eyes away from the pressure of the moment and toward His steady faithfulness. Psalm 103:2 echoes this invitation: “Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits.” Gratitude is an antidote to spiritual forgetfulness.
Then Scripture says, “Call upon His name.” Gratitude doesn’t distance us from God, it draws us closer. The more we thank Him, the more we trust Him. The more we trust Him, the more naturally we call on Him in every need, every fear, every unknown. Gratitude builds intimacy.
And finally: “Make known His deeds among the peoples.”
Gratitude naturally becomes testimony. When we remember what God has done, we can’t help but tell someone. Psalm 40:10 says, “I have not hidden Your righteousness within my heart; I have declared Your faithfulness and Your salvation.” Praise is not meant to stay private.
Here’s today’s truth nugget: Gratitude becomes powerful when it goes public.
Your story might be the reminder someone else needs. Your gratitude may spark theirs. Your testimony might be the signpost God uses to point another heart back to Him.
Today, think about one thing God has done, one answered prayer, one moment of peace, one unexpected provision, and thank Him for it. Call on Him again. And if He leads you… tell someone. He deserves to be known.
Prayer
Lord, thank You for all You’ve done, seen and unseen. Teach me to call on You with confidence and to make Your goodness known wherever I go. Let gratitude overflow from my heart to others. Amen.
