Forget Not His Benefits | Psalm 103:2

Today is my 31st birthday, y'all!

Birthdays have a way of making us pause, not just to mark another year, but to truly look back at the story God has been writing. Psalm 103:2 says, “Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits.” It’s both a reminder and a gentle command: Do not forget. Do not overlook. Do not rush past what He has done.

Life moves fast. Hard seasons feel loud. Disappointments steal attention. And sometimes the goodness of God becomes part of the background instead of something we actively celebrate. But on a day like today, a day that marks another year of breath, grace, and God’s steady hand, He invites you to pause and remember.

Remember how He carried you.

Remember the prayers He whispered answers to.

Remember the moments you felt covered and didn’t know why.

Remember the friendships sent at the perfect time.

Remember the healing that came slowly.

Remember the breakthroughs you didn’t see coming.

Remember the lessons, the protection, the mercies, the joy.

Psalm 103 goes on to list some of God’s “benefits”: forgiveness, healing, redemption, lovingkindness, mercy, satisfaction, renewal. These are not small things, they are the building blocks of a life touched by God.

Here’s today’s truth nugget: Gratitude becomes deepest when you remember the faithfulness of God across every season, even the difficult ones.

This is a day to bless the Lord, not because everything is perfect, but because He has been perfectly faithful. A new year of life is not just a celebration; it is a testimony of His goodness and a reminder that you have never walked alone.

Prayer

Lord, thank You for another year of life, for every blessing, every lesson, and every quiet mercy. Help me remember Your goodness and carry a grateful heart into the year ahead. Amen.
